The RoleAn opportunity has become available for an Advanced Carer Peer Worker (Identified Lived Experience - Older Persons Mental Health Community) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 14 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.You willWork effectively and collaboratively as a member of the multidisciplinary team, in accordance with peer work values and within scope of practiceWork within professional boundaries as part of the multidisciplinary team to provide an integrated model of carePositively promote individual and family recovery orientation and principles to carers, families and staff members and share lived expertise from a carer perspectiveProvide direct carer peer support to carers, families and significant others by engaging in individual and group peer support, advocacy and education activitiesAbout youTo be successful in this position you will require:It is a mandatory requirement of this position that the employee has a lived/living experience of mental illness, service use and recovery and is able to use this experience to support others living with mental health and substance use challenges.Previous experience working within a public mental health service or the community sector as a Carer Peer Worker is essential.Paid Blue Card (Working with Children Check)Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis BTuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be requiredDeclaration of serious discipline history must be disclosedCriminal History Screening will be required for recent employees (GCH will cover cost)BenefitsFlexible work optionsCareer DevelopmentSalary PackagingModern FacilitiesDiverse Work CultureResearch Opportunities12.75% super17.5% leave loadingSalaryPermanent part time (45.6 hrs per fortnight)Base salary ranging from $48.60 - $53.54 per hourAbout UsMental Health and Specialist Services Consumer, Carer and Family Participation Team is a lived experience team. The team provides a responsive program of recovery-oriented peer support, education, and information for consumers, families and carers.
