Barker College is seeking an Experienced Outdoor Instructor to join the team at The Grange, our dedicated Outdoor Education and Environmental Studies Centre in the stunning Blue Mountains. This is a 0.8 FTE maternity leave position, commencing as soon as possible.

WHY THE GRANGE?

Set on 34 hectares of beautiful bushland in Mount Victoria, The Grange is where students swap desks for hiking boots and discover what they're capable of. Through immersive outdoor experiences, students build resilience, leadership, teamwork, environmental awareness, and self-confidence while exploring some of NSW's most spectacular natural environments.

From hiking and camping to mountain biking, navigation, abseiling, rock climbing, and expedition-based learning, no two days are ever quite the same.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As an Outdoor Instructor, you'll play a key role in creating memorable and meaningful experiences for students in Years 7 to 12. You'll guide young people as they challenge themselves, develop recent skills, and form lasting connections with each other and the natural world.

You'll work across programs at The Grange and other NSW locations, including the Mid North Coast, as part of a passionate team committed to delivering exceptional outdoor education experiences.

What You'll Have

- Outdoor Education qualifications and experience
- Qualifications and experience in mountain biking, flat water canoeing, abseiling, navigation lessons, bushwalking, team games and other outdoor activities for groups of students.
- Enjoys working with young people in dynamic and challenging environments
- Is passionate about experiential learning and personal development
- Can work flexibly, including multi-day and overnight programs
- Is committed to maintaining high standards of safety and risk management; Current Leaders Wilderness First Aid Certificate
- Is eager to continue learning and undertake additional training where required
- Brings positive energy, initiative, and a collaborative approach to the team
- Light Rigid (LR) or Medium Rigid (MR) or equivalent drivers’ licence.
