Our client is seeking a qualified and experienced Chef to join our team on a full-time permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality meals, supporting kitchen operations, maintaining food safety standards, and assisting with menu planning, stock control and staff supervision.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook meals in accordance with recipes and restaurant standards.
- Plan and assist with the development of menus.
- Estimate food requirements and assist with food and labour costing.
- Monitor the quality and freshness of ingredients and prepared meals.
- Maintain consistent standards of food quality, portioning and presentation.
- Order and manage food supplies, stock levels and kitchen inventory.
- Implement appropriate stock rotation and minimise food wastage.
- Supervise and support junior kitchen staff during preparation and service.
- Provide guidance and training on cooking techniques and food preparation.
- Maintain clean, organised and hygienic kitchen areas.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and Workplace Health and Safety requirements.
- Coordinate kitchen operations during busy service periods.
- Perform other Chef-related duties as reasonably required.
Requirements:
- AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in Hospitality Management.
- Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery
- At least one (1) year experience working as a Chef in a commercial kitchen environment
- Experience in preparing Nepalese and Indian cuisine (preferred)
- Robust knowledge of food safety, hygiene, stock control and kitchen operations.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Candidates with demonstrated experience in preparing Nepalese and Indian cuisine will be prioritised.
