Northamptonshire Youth Justice Service (NYJS) has an exciting opportunity for a Youth Justice Team Worker to join our service on a 12-month maternity cover contract working as part of the West team.

The Youth Justice Service is a highly successful statutory partnership which is required to reduce the offending of children and young people; reduce the incidence of harm to potential victims; repair existing harm where possible and safeguard the welfare of the children and young people with whom we work.

You will be based out of our Billing Road office but will be required to travel effectively across the county

n

What will you be doing?

n

You will understand that the ability to motivate children & young people, their parents & carers, and other workers are all critical to giving you the opportunity to put your knowledge and experience to valuable use.

Working in the community,



you will see young people both in our offices and in various community venues, including their own homes.

n

You will also be expected to engage with young people whilst in custodial establishments.

n

Whatever the environment, you will be skilled at building and sustaining professional relationships swiftly to maximise the impact of your work.

n

You will be expected to offer a range of approaches to your work, which are responsive to the needs of the individuals.

n

The YJS client group can live chaotic lifestyles, and your persistence and determination will be important to your ability to engage and re-engage with those who need you most.

You will work in partnership with colleagues inside and outside the YJS. This will include representing our service in Court, presenting professionally to magistrates and judges.
