Join Our Team: Protect, Serve, and Make a Difference!
We are the Rural Fire Service (RFS), a dedicated community of volunteers providing fire and emergency services to approximately 95% of NSW. When you work with the RFS, you join a passionate team committed to protecting our neighbours, the wider community, and the environment from the threat of bushfires and other emergencies. With over 70,000 volunteer members and staff, we embody the spirit of mutual respect, support, friendship, and camaraderie. We are one team with many players, united by a single purpose. If you share our passion for community service and environmental protection, we want to hear from you! Become a part of our mission to safeguard lives and our cherished NSW landscapes.
What you’ll be doing:
The Manager Business Partnering leads a small team that proactively engages with stakeholders to shape, define and prioritise business demands for the RFS, ensuring initiatives align with organisational priorities. The role translates business needs into clearly defined requirements, options and proposals and maintains visibility of the demand pipeline to inform strategic decision making and continuous improvement. The role manages two functions including Business Partnering and the RFS Guardian platform team.
Our Ideal Candidate
The RFS is looking for an exceptional leader with a highly transferable skill set and the ability to quickly adapt to the diverse needs of its Directorates.
This is not a traditional business partnering role aligned to a single function. We are looking for someone who can work across the organisation, understand complex business challenges, and help deliver outcomes that matter. You are an agile thinker who can understand new business contexts, identify opportunities for improvement, and establish trusted relationships with frontline operations, corporate services and executive leadership. Naturally curious and quick to learn, you can build credibility quickly, ask insightful questions, and use sound judgement to understand the underlying issues and opportunities facing the business. You are a strategic and critical thinker who can move between big picture planning and hands‑on delivery, ensuring initiatives achieve tangible and sustainable results. As a leader, you create high performing, engaged and collaborative teams. You develop capability in others, foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, and create an environment where people can do their best work. You are recognised for your ability to influence, challenge constructively and lead through change. Above all, you are passionate about helping others succeed and deliver results through insight, collaboration and action.
