About the role:

We are excited to offer an prospect for a Legal Counsel – Supply Chain to join our team in Melbourne.

In this highly influential role, you’ll provide strategic legal and commercial advice across Orica’s Global and Regional Supply Chain, leading complex and often multi-region procurement agreements involving some of the most critical products, materials and services supporting our global operations.

You’ll work at the intersection of law, commercial strategy and global supply, partnering closely with senior leaders and stakeholders across Supply Chain, Legal and Governance and our regional businesses. From negotiating significant cross-border agreements to advising on regulatory matters that may impact Orica’s licence to operate, your work will directly support the resilience and commercial performance of our global operations.

What you will be doing:

Commercial Contracting & Legal Advisory

- Lead the negotiation, drafting and legal review of material supply chain and procurement agreements.
- Provide strategic, timely and solutions-focused legal advice across complex global and regional supply chain matters.




- Partner with the business to identify practical legal solutions that appropriately balance risk management with commercial outcomes.

Global Supply Chain & Regulatory Matters

- Act as lead lawyer on significant regulatory investigations that may impact Orica’s supply, procurement, manufacturing or distribution activities.
- Advise on complex and cross-border matters across Orica’s global operations.
- Bring a global mindset and commercial lens to legal matters, supporting cost leadership and operational excellence.

Strategic Business Partnering

- Build trusted relationships with Supply Chain leaders, Regional Vice Presidents, contract management teams and colleagues across Legal and Governance.
- Work closely with stakeholders to understand commercial priorities and provide clear, pragmatic legal guidance.
- Contribute to global forums and governing bodies supporting key Supply Chain matters.

Legal & Practice Management

- Coordinate internal and external legal resources to deliver high-quality advice efficiently and within budget.
- Support effective legal processes, resources and governance around major Supply Chain matters.
- Help drive high standards of legal and commercial excellence across the organisation.

What you will bring:

- A relevant tertiary qualification in law.
- A minimum of 6 years’ post-qualification experience, with strong experience negotiating procurement and commercial contracts, including cross-border matters.




- Private practice experience is required, with previous in-house experience highly regarded.
- Strong contract drafting, negotiation and commercial advisory skills.
- Experience leading legal matters and managing legal resources and teams.
- Strong commercial judgement and the ability to balance legal risk with business priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
- Strong organisational and practice management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a complex global environment.
- A collaborative, resilient and solutions-focused approach, with sound judgement and a high level of integrity.
