Position Overviewn

An chance is available for an experienced Network Architect to provide strategic and technical leadership across a complex enterprise network environment.

n

Working within an established Network Operations team, you will define, govern and evolve enterprise network architecture across on-premises, cloud-connected and hybrid environments. The role combines strategic architecture with hands-on technical leadership, translating business, security and operational requirements into secure, scalable and resilient network solutions.

You will work across a broad multi-vendor technology environment, developing architecture patterns, standards and roadmaps while providing technical governance and assurance across major projects, network modernisation initiatives and complex technical changes.

Key Dutiesn

n
- Develop and maintain enterprise network architecture, standards, patterns and technology roadmaps.
n
- Translate business, security and operational requirements into network capabilities and solution designs.
n
- Lead the design and implementation of strategic network initiatives and complex technical changes.
n
- Produce high-level and detailed network designs and implementation guidance.
n
- Act as technical lead across complex network projects and technology refresh activities.
n
- Provide architecture assurance and technical governance across concurrent projects and operational initiatives.
n
- Define and implement network security architectures aligned with the ISM, PSPF and Essential Eight.
n
- Improve network resilience, security, monitoring, automation and operational supportability.
n
- Guide technology lifecycle management, capacity planning and network modernisation activities.
n
- Maintain hands-on technical engagement across enterprise network technologies.
n




- Engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to develop and communicate network solutions.
n

Skills and Experience Requiredn n
- Demonstrated experience developing enterprise network architectures and translating architecture into implemented outcomes within large, complex ICT environments.
n
- High-level expertise designing and implementing enterprise network security architectures, with significant experience across Fortinet technologies and services.
n
- Strong experience operating within complex, multi-vendor network environments.
n
- Demonstrated expertise across enterprise routing and switching, network security, load balancing, WAN and cloud-connected environments.
n
- Experience designing solutions across LAN, MAN and WAN environments, network management, monitoring and observability technologies.
n
- Strong understanding and practical application of Australian Government security frameworks, including the ISM, PSPF and Essential Eight.
n
- Proven ability to provide technical leadership, architecture governance and design assurance across multiple concurrent initiatives.
n
- Highly developed stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including the ability to influence technical and non-technical audiences.
n
- Ability to produce high-quality architecture, solution design and technical artefacts.
n

Experience in the following areas will be highly regardedn n
- Microsoft Azure networking and hybrid connectivity.
n
- Network automation, Infrastructure as Code and orchestration technologies, including Ansible.
n
- Zero Trust architectures, network segmentation and contemporary security design patterns.
n
- Architecture governance forums, design authorities and technology standards development.
n
- Relevant certifications such as Fortinet NSE/FCP, CCDE, CCNP/CCIE, F5-CA, Azure Solutions Architect, or equivalent.
n
- Previous experience within Commonwealth Government or similarly regulated environments.
