Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Composites Assistant role based in the Greater Albury-Wodonga Area. The Composites Assistant supports the preparation, fabrication, and repair of composite components used in race cars, such as bodywork and aerodynamic parts. Daily tasks may include preparing molds, cutting and laying composite materials, assisting with laminating and curing processes, and performing basic finishing work such as trimming and sanding. The role involves working closely with engineers and technicians to ensure parts meet quality, safety, and performance standards, as well as maintaining a clean, organized composites workspace.
The Composites Assistant may also help with inventory control of composite materials, support workshop activities around race events, and contribute to continuous improvement of composites processes.
Qualifications
- Foundational skills in composites or materials work, such as handling fiberglass or carbon fiber, basic laminating, and safe use of hand and power tools.
- Ability to follow technical instructions, read basic drawings, and apply attention to detail in measuring, cutting, and assembling parts.
- Strong commitment to safety, including proper use of PPE, safe handling of resins and chemicals, and maintaining a tidy work environment.
- Effective teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with technicians, engineers, and other workshop staff.
- Good organizational and time-management abilities to meet deadlines in a fast-paced motorsport environment.
- Willingness to learn and develop current skills in composites, fabrication, and motorsport vehicle preparation.
- Previous experience in automotive, manufacturing, composites, or a related workshop environment is beneficial but not strictly required.
- Relevant vocational training or qualifications in composites, fabrication, or automotive technology are an advantage.
