Role Purpose

The purpose of the Painter role is to prepare, treat, and finish surfaces of buildings, structures, and fittings by applying paints, varnishes, stains, and protective coatings. The position ensures surfaces are protected against wear, weather, and damage while enhancing their appearance. Painters contribute to construction, renovation, and maintenance projects by delivering skilled surface finishing that meets safety, durability, and client specifications.

Key Responsibilities

- Preparing surfaces by cleaning, sanding, patching, and priming before painting
- Applying paints, varnishes, stains, and protective coatings to interior and exterior surfaces
- Mixing and matching paint colours to achieve required finishes
- Using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment to apply coatings evenly
- Ensuring finishes meet durability, safety, and aesthetic standards
- Working on residential, commercial, and industrial projects including new builds, renovations,



and maintenance
- Following workplace health and safety procedures and compliance requirements
- Maintaining tools, equipment, and materials in good working condition
- Removing old paint or finishes where necessary
- Collaborating with other trades and team members to complete projects efficiently

What We Are Looking For (Requirements)

- Completion of a Certificate III in Painting and Decorating or equivalent trade qualification
- Proven experience in residential, commercial, or industrial painting projects
- Knowledge of surface preparation techniques, paint types, and application methods
- Ability to mix and match colours to achieve required finishes
- Understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
- Competence in using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment
