Melbourne-based Insurance Assessments and Analysis positions - Government - 3 to 6 month opportunity Your new company This is an opportunity to join a highly regarded government organisation operating within the insurance and regulatory sector. This organisation plays a critical role in assessing financial eligibility requirements and supporting important insurance and licensing outcomes across the building industry. Due to increased assessment volumes, multiple contract opportunities are available for analytical graduates and junior professionals looking to develop their careers in insurance, risk and regulatory assessment. Your new role Reporting to a team of experienced assessors, you will support the review and assessment of applications submitted by businesses operating within a regulated environment. Working within established frameworks, guidelines and assessment criteria, you will be responsible for reviewing company and financial information, identifying risks and supporting the delivery of fair, consistent and timely insurance assessment outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Reviewing company and financial statements, including balance sheets and profit and loss statements
- Assessing applications against prescribed insurance eligibility requirements
- Applying established assessment frameworks, procedures and decision-making criteria
- Performing financial calculations, insurance assessments and identifying potential areas of risk
- Reviewing supporting documentation and ensuring information provided is complete and accurate
- Preparing assessment reports, recommendations and file notes
- Escalating complex or higher-risk matters to senior assessors
- Managing a consistent volume of work whilst meeting agreed service levels and turnaround times
- Maintaining accurate records within a regulated environment
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will possess strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to apply structured processes and frameworks. Suitable backgrounds would be degree qualified, and 6-12 months' experience in a role that includes Analysis, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Insurance, Banking, Risk, Compliance or Regulatory assessment. - A degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Economics or a related discipline
- Some experience gained in information analysis, such as financial analysis, reviewing company data, statistics, or similar.
- An interest in insurance, underwriting, risk or regulatory environments
- The ability to interpret and analyse information
- Strong written communication and documentation skills
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Sound judgement and problem-solving capability
- The ability to work effectively within structured policies and procedures
- Experience gained within underwriting, insurance operations, credit assessment, lending, audit, compliance or financial services environments will be highly regarded.
