About the role

Express Pathology is seeking a skilled and compassionate Mobile Phlebotomist / Blood Collector to join our dynamic team in Brisbane. This is a contract position that offers flexibility and variety as you deliver essential blood collection services across the Brisbane area. As a Mobile Phlebotomist, you will be a vital part of our pathology services, travelling to patients' homes, aged care facilities, hospitals and other healthcare settings to collect blood samples with professionalism and care. This role is crucial to ensuring we maintain the highest standards of patient care and sample integrity whilst building strong relationships with our clients and their patients.

What you'll be doing

- Collecting blood samples from patients in various settings, including residential addresses, aged care facilities, hospitals and medical clinics

- Performing venepuncture and other blood collection techniques safely and accurately, adhering to strict infection control and safety protocols

- Accurately labelling and processing blood samples to ensure proper identification and prevent cross-contamination

- Maintaining detailed and accurate records of all blood collections, including patient information and sample details

- Providing reassurance and support to patients, explaining procedures clearly and addressing any concerns or anxieties

- Transporting blood samples securely and safely to the laboratory, maintaining appropriate temperature and storage conditions

- Communicating effectively with patients, healthcare professionals and Express Pathology staff to ensure smooth service delivery

- Following all workplace health and safety regulations, infection control standards and quality assurance protocols





- Managing your own schedule and route planning to maximise efficiency across the Brisbane region

What we're looking for

- Current certification or qualification as a Phlebotomist or Blood Collection Technician recognised in Australia

- Proven experience in blood collection and venepuncture techniques in a variety of healthcare settings

- Strong knowledge of infection control procedures, occupational health and safety standards, and pathology sample handling requirements

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work sensitively with patients from diverse backgrounds

- Reliability and punctuality with the ability to manage your own time effectively when working in the field

- A valid driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle for travelling between collection sites

- Current Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain one) as you may work in settings with vulnerable populations

- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle difficult situations with professionalism

- Attention to detail and strong organisational skills to ensure accurate sample collection and documentation

- Preferred: experience working for a pathology provider or mobile blood collection service
