Trainee Tanning Drum Operator
Location: Culcairn, NSW

Geelong Leather, a long-established Australian leather processor, is seeking a motivated Trainee Tanning Drum Operator to join our Drum Department at our Culcairn facility. This is a hands-on, full-time role is crucial in processing cattle hides into wet blue leather.

What You’ll Do:

- Operate forklifts (and attachments) to load/unload trucks and drums and bins

- Handle hides using manual and automated equipment

- Operate chemical dosing systems

- Weigh, measure and handle chemicals with bags weighing up to 20-25kg

- Prepare and maintain the processing of hides and skins

- Operate basic effluent treatment systems

- Maintain accurate records and housekeeping standards

- Ability to work a 12-hour rotating shifts on a 3-day rotating roster alternating between two weeks of day shift and two weeks of night shift (Includes rotated weekends and public holidays).

About You:

- Physically fit and capable of manual labour

- Passionate about learning new skills

- Good literacy, numeracy, and time management

- Strong communication and the ability to follow directions

- Commitment to long-term training and growth





- Can work autonomously and manage shift work

- Valid driver’s license and reliable transport

- Forklift experience preferred but not essential

- Must currently reside in Australia with valid work rights (no sponsorships offered at this time) and reside no further than 65km from Culcairn, NSW (fatigue management).
