Job: 1681316 | Full-Time| Fixed-Term (12-months) | Flexible Base Location Across NSW or ACT | $82,532 (Fixed Pay)
This is an Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander identified position which is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
The Aboriginal Legal Service (ALS) was established in a critical act of self-determination over 50 years ago as part of the Aboriginal rights protest movement. We provide high-quality, culturally secure legal and support services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people throughout NSW and the ACT, and fight for social justice and equity for our communities.
Your Impact:
You’ll travel across NSW and the ACT, stepping into different communities and ALS offices to provide support where it’s needed most. From covering staff leave and vacancies to supporting court requirements and emerging community needs, you’ll play a vital role in keeping services connected and moving. Each day, you will:
- Walk alongside mob and provide respectful, culturally safe and trauma-informed support.
- Travel across NSW and the ACT, adapting to different offices, courts and communities and providing support where it’s needed most.
- Be there in court, supporting clients to understand legal processes and communicate with their solicitors.
- Keep clients connected and engaged by following up on matters and helping them navigate their legal journey.
- Connect clients with community through referrals, practical support and strong relationships with local services and organisations.
- Support the ALS team with client eligibility assessments, records, case notes and other service administration.

- Communicate with respect and confidence, building positive relationships with clients, families, communities, colleagues and service providers.
- Be curious and willing to learn, with the ability to ask questions, receive feedback, seek guidance and work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Be organised and adaptable, with basic computer skills, the ability to maintain accurate records and confidence working across different locations and communities.
- Hold a current driver’s licence and be willing and able to travel regularly across NSW and the ACT,
including overnight and extended deployments.
