Northern Health is currently recruiting for enthusiastic undergraduate Bachelor of Nursing students to join our Registered Undergraduate Student of Nursing (RUSON) Workforce at Northern Health.

About Northern Health:

Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.

Services are provided through our six main campuses:

Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.

About the Role:

A mix of RUSON contracts either one shift a fortnight (0.1 EFT) or two shifts a fortnight (0.2 EFT) available for fixed term contracts from 1st October 2026 to 27th June 2027. Commitment to a rotating roster incorporating Day and Evening shifts- Monday to Sunday is mandatory. The RUSON position requires the applicant to work across all the Northern Health sites within their skillset and Scope of Practice.



Candidates must provide evidence of enrolment in their 2nd year (or 3rd if completing dual degree) of study in 2026.

Working under the supervision of Registered Nurses, RUSONs are responsible for the delivery of high-quality patient centred care, within their scope of practice whilst observing the legislative requirement of the role and practising according to the Northern Health and Campus specific Policies and Procedures across all sites of Northern Health. Working across all sites, you will be exposed to a multitude of nursing areas that will further improve your personal & professional growth and equip you with wide range of skills.

To be successful in this role you will have:

- Successfully completed a minimum of 12 months of the Bachelor of Nursing & 1st year placement and entered into your 2nd year in 2026
- Ability to commence in October 2026
- Flexibility and commitment to your fortnightly contracted hours
- Responsive to the ever-changing needs of the organisation.
- Ability to adapt to new areas, work with new teams and work across all our campuses
- Provide excellent care to all our patients in various settings.

in Bachelor of Nursing or Midwifery course and Subjects enrolled in 2nd year in 2026 (or 3rd if completing dual degree)
- Coloured copy of your Passport or Birth Certificate or Australian Citizenship
- Relevant Visa document if you hold overseas passport
