Suburban Connect is a consortium of global leaders in tunnelling, comprising CPB Contractors, Ghella, and Acciona Construction. Together, we are delivering the southern section of tunnels for Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East – 16km of twin tunnels between Cheltenham and Glen Waverley, which will be Victoria’s longest transport tunnel. This project is being delivered on behalf of the Suburban Rail Loop Authority (SRLA).
About the role:
The primary purpose of the Completion Coordinator is to assist the Completion Manager achieve the Project’s completion objectives by implementing and communicating Suburban Connects completion strategy.
The role’s responsibilities are outlines in the “Functional Responsibilities” Tab below and cover both:
- Coordination of completion records to achieve successful handover; and
- Defect management prior to Practical Completion (PC) and during the Defects Liability Period (DLP) in the role of Defects Coordinator.
Completion Coordinators will be assigned to dedicated Separable Portions (SP), however they will be required to assist with completion activities at other SP’s, depending on handover dates and workload at the time.
Key Accountabilities:
Prior to Practical Completion
- Responsible for the coordination of the overall completions process on site, at each Separable Portion assigned to them.
- Track and report on completion activities, back to the Completion Manager.
- Assist Completion Manager to produce completion reporting for the various completion milestones.
- Liaise with SC internal teams to:
- Communicate the handover deliverables assigned to each discipline
- Ensure handover deliverables are being submitted in a timely manner and to the required standard.
- Develop, lead and maintain interface with SRLA and stakeholders, driving a collaborative approach to:
- Achieve defect acceptance and close out
- Review of deliverable submissions for handover to achieve CRF acceptance and close-out.
- Assist with defect management by:
- Implementing the defect management approach & procedures
- Scheduling completion inspections and defect walkthroughs.
- Responsible for verifying and coordinating the close-out of defects after rectification.
- Tracking and reporting on defect closeout status
During Defects Liability Period:
- Nominated by the Project Director to manage the rectification of defects identified after PC and during the DLP.
- Responsible for tracking and reporting on defect status during DLP.
- Organising defect walkthroughs with the relevant stakeholders during DLP
SRL East, spanning from Cheltenham to Box Hill, is now being constructed. Tunnelling is set to commence in 2026, with trains expected to begin running by 2035. The works include 55 cross passages, two tunnel portal structures, two station box excavations, and various associated support tasks.
