Early Childhood Teacher / Nominated Supervisor (3 days per week)
Service Director (1 day per week)

Position commences Term 1, 2027
(Staff start week beginning 18 January 2027)

Mt Gravatt Community Kindergarten is a community based non-profit organisation that has provided early childhood education for young children for over 60 years. The centre is operated by a management committee, who serve as the Approved Provider, which is elected annually from the parent body and is affiliated with The Lady Gowrie (Qld).

Set among the trees at the base of Mount Gravatt Lookout, our kindergarten has a unique bushland playground offering many natural play experiences, activities and challenges for children to explore and enjoy.

We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Early Childhood Teacher (Nominated Supervisor) / Service Director to commence 18th January 2027. The position will be for the Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday group, (child contact hours 8.30am to 2.30pm). This is a 12-month contract position with a view to a permanent role from 2028, noting the program hours will change in 2028 to a two-day program: Monday, Tuesday 8.00am to 3.30pm.

The centre retained its Exceeding rating through the Assessment and Ratings process; and is led by a highly experienced team who are passionate about early childhood education.

Mt Gravatt Community Kindergarten operates as a single unit service, catering for kindergarten children from 3.5 years to school entry.

You will be required to work closely with the other Teacher (Nominated Supervisor) / Educational Leader to deliver high-quality early childhood education and kindergarten programs based on the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF)



and Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG).

The Service Director component of the position is an 8-hour-per-week responsibility. The Director provides strategic, operational, financial and workforce leadership to ensure the effective management, wellbeing, sustainability and continuous improvement of the community kindergarten.

You will be working collaboratively with the Administration Manager and the Management Committee (Approved Provider) to support staff and the committee to ensure the service maintains high-quality educational outcomes, operational efficiency, workforce sustainability and robust community partnerships.

The following qualifications are essential:

- Approved Early Childhood Teacher qualification (must meet ACECQA and QKFS requirements)

- Current Suitability Card or Exemption Card for Registered Teachers

- Current Senior First Aid including Asthma and Anaphylaxis Training

- Mandatory government regulated child safety training requirements

Desirable:

- Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in business management or related field

- Queensland College of Teachers Registration

The ideal applicant will have:

- Demonstrated understanding of the structure and operation of a community kindergarten.





- Current understanding of the National Quality Framework and Early Childhood Education and Care Legislation and Regulations especially recently introduced child safety legislation.

- Current understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework and Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline.

- Relevant experience and/or a commitment to working in community kindergarten.

- The ability to develop strong trusting relationships between children, families, staff and our local community.

- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team, engaging with regulatory bodies and all relevant stakeholders.

- Demonstrated ability to work independently, using initiative and make decisions (with support of colleagues, committee, and The Gowrie).

- The ability to promote the objectives and goals of The Gowrie (Qld), and the values and philosophy of Mt Gravatt Community Kindergarten.

- Demonstrated experience working in a management position to fulfil the requirements for the Service Director component of the role, such as:

- Maintaining and developing a QIP

- Risk management

- Strategic planning

- Organisational compliance

- Financial and funding management

- Workplace health and safety

- Assessment and Rating process
