The City of Wanneroo is looking for an Undergraduate Coastal Engineer to join our Coastal Maintenance team. This is a great opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience in coastal engineering and management while working alongside experienced coastal engineering professionals.

You’ll be involved in a range of activities that support the City’s coastal monitoring, maintenance and management programs, helping to protect and enhance our coastline for the community.

What you'll be doingWorking under the guidance of the Senior Project Manager – Coastal Engineering, you will:
• Undertake scheduled and reactive coastal site inspections to support the City's coastal monitoring program.
• Provide practical support to the City's coastal engineers across a range of coastal management activities.
• Assist with coastal engineering tasks, research, analysis and information gathering.
• Liaise with customers, consultants, contractors, government agencies and other stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate records, registers, databases and other relevant systems.
• Contribute ideas and support business improvement initiatives within the Coastal Maintenance team.
• Respond to changing priorities, including supporting inspections and works following weather-related coastal damage.

No two days will necessarily be the same, with the role providing exposure to both office-based engineering work and the coastal environment.





What you'll bringWe’re looking for someone who is keen to learn, proactive and interested in developing their career in coastal engineering.

To be successful, you will be able to demonstrate in your cover letter and resume the following criteria:
• Be currently undertaking tertiary studies in Coastal Engineering, Environmental Engineering or another related discipline.
• Have a C Class Driver's Licence.
• Have foundational research, analysis, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Have good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Have sound computer, numeracy, literacy and data-entry skills.
• Be committed to working safely in both office and coastal environments.
• Previous experience in a similar role is desirable, but not essential.
