About the role

We are seeking Experienced Steel Fixers and Steel Fixers/Dogmen to join our dynamic team in the Mid North region of SA. This is a casual position to commence offering flexibility and the opportunity to work on varied projects within the building trades sector. As a Steel Fixer or Steel Fixer/Dogman, you will play a crucial role in preparing, positioning and securing steel reinforcement for concrete structures. Your work will be essential to ensuring that our projects meet safety standards and structural integrity requirements.

Key responsibilities

- Locating and marking positions for wiring, tying and fastening steel reinforcement bars and mesh according to specifications and drawings

- Measuring,



cutting and bending steel bars to required lengths and angles using hand and power tools

- Securing steel reinforcement using wire ties in accordance with industry standards

- Assembling and installing reinforcement cages and frameworks for concrete structures

- Reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints to ensure accurate placement of steel materials

- Performing quality checks to verify that all work meets specifications and engineering requirements

- Maintaining a clean and organised work site and ensuring compliance with health and safety protocols

- Communicating effectively with supervisors, engineers and other team members to coordinate workflow and resolve issues

What we're looking for

- Proven experience as a Steel Fixer or in a similar steel fixing role within the construction industry

- Demonstrated proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and architectural specifications

- Competency in using hand tools, power tools and measuring equipment safely and accurately

- Strong knowledge of steel reinforcement materials, types and industry best practices

- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces safely and confidently





- Valid Construction Induction Card (White Card) or willingness to obtain one

- For Steel Fixer/Dogman applicants: experience carrying out dogman duties is highly desirable

- A commitment to health and safety practices and compliance with all relevant regulations and site protocols

- Physical fitness and capability to perform manual labour, lifting heavy materials and working in varying weather conditions

- Reliability, punctuality and a strong work ethic

- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
