About the Role

SA Building Suppliers is seeking an enthusiastic, reliable and customer-focused person to join our team in a Trade Sales Counter position.

This is a hands-on customer service and sales role working directly with our trade customers. You will be an important first point of contact for customers visiting our branch, while also assisting with phone enquiries, sales, quoting and order processing.

We are looking for someone who enjoys dealing with people, has a strong work ethic and takes pride in providing excellent service to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

- Serve customers professionally and efficiently at the trade counter

- Process customer sales, orders, quotes and invoices

- Answer customer enquiries in person, over the phone and via email

- Provide product information and assist customers in selecting the right products

- Develop and maintain strong relationships with regular trade customers

- Identify opportunities to increase sales and introduce customers to additional products

- Prepare and follow up customer quotations

- Coordinate customer orders with the warehouse and delivery teams

- Ensure orders are accurately entered and processed

- Assist with stock enquiries and product availability

- Liaise with suppliers when required

- Resolve customer queries and issues in a professional manner

- Maintain a clean, organized and professional trade counter and showroom

- Assist with general administration and other duties as required

About You

The successful applicant will ideally have experience in building supplies, hardware, trade sales, internal sales or customer service.

You will be:

- Friendly, approachable and confident dealing with customers

- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic

- Well organized and able to manage multiple tasks





- A solid communicator with good attention to detail

- Comfortable working in a busy trade environment

- Sales-focused and motivated to achieve results

- A team player who is willing to assist wherever required

- Confident using computers and learning new software systems

- Able to build positive and lasting customer relationships

Building industry or product knowledge will be highly regarded, however, we are also willing to consider someone with strong sales and customer service experience who has the right attitude and is willing to learn.

A forklift license would be advantageous but is not essential.
