Senior Control & Instrumentation Engineer

Our Tier 1 Mining Client is looking for an experienced Senior Control & Instrumentation Engineer to join a major resources and infrastructure organisation in Perth.
Roster: 5/2 Perth CBD with some ad hoc site travel
Start date: ASAP
Duration: approx. 12 months - with potential to extend
Pay Rate: $85 - $100 p/h + Super depending on experience

The Role:
This is a senior technical role working across a large portfolio of brownfield projects, providing instrumentation and control engineering expertise from design through to delivery. The position will suit an experienced instrumentation-focused engineer who is comfortable working across multiple projects, coordinating technical activities and providing day-to-day supervision and direction.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Delivering high-level instrumentation and control engineering activities across multiple brownfield projects
- Defining scopes and coordinating detailed technical studies
- Reviewing engineering designs, calculations and technical documentation
- Developing and reviewing P&IDs;, control narratives, logic diagrams, functional block diagrams and instrument datasheets
- Working with contractors, consultants and OEM suppliers to develop effective instrumentation and control solutions
- Providing technical input into plant layouts and ensuring instrumentation requirements are appropriately considered
- Supporting project estimates and engineering planning
- Providing daily supervision and technical direction to engineers, designers and project resources
- Reviewing contractor deliverables and verifying compliance with relevant technical requirements
- Supporting Functional Safety requirements and verification activities
- Contributing to cybersecurity requirements across control and instrumentation systems
- Coordinating effectively with multidisciplinary engineering and project delivery teams
Required Experience:
- 10+ years of post-qualification design experience in control, instrumentation and communications engineering
- Strong instrumentation engineering experience
- Demonstrated experience delivering brownfield modifications
- Experience within minerals processing / processing plant environments highly regarded
- Experience with Functional Safety and relevant IEC 61508 / IEC 61511 requirements
- Experience with cybersecurity and IEC 62443 highly regarded
- Robust understanding of Australian and international engineering standards and best practice
- Experience coordinating and reviewing contractor/consultant engineering work
- Previous technical leadership, supervision or project lead experience
- Experience mentoring and providing direction to junior engineers and designers
- An Electrical Engineering or Control & Instrumentation Engineering degree
