THE OPPORTUNITY

Mt St Michael’s College is a vibrant Catholic girls’ school for approximately 900 students from Years 5–12, located in the leafy suburb of Ashgrove just 5km from the Brisbane CBD. The Curriculum Leader - The Arts is a Middle Leadership role responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction across The Arts curriculum from Years 5-12. Reporting to the Dean of Teaching and Learning, this role uses pedagogical research and student data to strengthen curriculum design, assessment practice and innovative delivery. The successful candidate will lead a collaborative department committed to high-performance, continuous improvement and enhanced student outcomes.

We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking educational leader with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, and a genuine commitment to working in partnership with students, parents and colleagues. The successful applicant will model contemporary practice, mentor and support staff, foster student wellbeing and contribute positively to the culture and mission of the College.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Providing strategic leadership and direction for The Arts curriculum across Years 5-12, ensuring alignment with the College mission, vision and values and relevant QCAA and ACARA requirements.

- Leading contemporary curriculum design, assessment,



moderation and data-informed improvement practices to enhance student learning and achievement.

- Modelling effective pedagogy and mentoring and developing staff to build a team-oriented culture of professional growth and continuous improvement.

- Overseeing departmental planning, resources, budgets, excursions, performances and risk assessment to support the effective delivery of the Arts program.

- Supporting student wellbeing in collaboration with Pastoral Leaders and maintaining responsive communication with students and parents/carers.

- Embedding safeguarding, student protection, privacy and risk management requirements in all departmental activities and interactions.

THE SELECTION CRITERIA

SC1 An understanding of and commitment to the aims of Catholic Education and the mission, vision and values of Mt St Michael’s College.

SC2 Demonstrated knowledge and experience in leading, developing and implementing high-quality Arts curriculum programs,



with the capacity to drive innovation and excellence in teaching and learning across Years 5 - 12.

SC3 Demonstrated excellence in teaching and curriculum leadership, including contemporary pedagogy, assessment, moderations and the use of student data and research to improve outcomes.

SC4 Proven ability to lead, mentor and support staff, fostering a collaborative, reflective and high-performing culture of professional growth and continuous improvement.

SC5 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with students, parents/carers and staff within a high-performing College culture.
