About the role
Aqua Build Australia is seeking an experienced, hands-on Remedial Multi-Skilled Technician to work across remedial building projects throughout Sydney.
This position requires someone who can independently investigate building defects, identify practical repair solutions and complete high-quality remedial work without constant supervision. Strong waterproofing knowledge and practical waterproofing experience are essential.
This is not a general labouring or basic handyman position. The successful applicant will be an experienced tradesperson or remedial technician who takes ownership of their work, thinks through problems and can confidently complete a broad range of repairs.
Key responsibilities
- Independently assess, plan and complete remedial building repairs.
- Investigate water ingress and building defects to help identify their source—not simply repair visible damage.
- Select and apply appropriate waterproofing products and repair methods in accordance with manufacturer requirements.
- Identify site issues, propose practical solutions and communicate them clearly before proceeding.
- Complete work to a consistently high standard of workmanship, presentation and safety.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, scopes of work and product documentation.
- Coordinate daily activities with the Project Manager, Site Supervisor, clients, subcontractors and occupants.
- Provide clear progress updates, photographs and records of completed work.
- Identify additional defects, access issues or scope changes promptly.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe work area.
- Comply with applicable building requirements, SafeWork NSW obligations, SWMS and company procedures.
Typical remedial work
Projects may include:
- Liquid and sheet membrane waterproofing.
- Balcony, bathroom, façade and external wall waterproofing repairs.
- Water-ingress investigation and leak rectification.
- Door and window repairs, sealing and replacement.
- Cavity flashing and brickwork repairs.
- Tiling, screeding and associated substrate preparation.
- Concrete and render repairs.
- Plasterboard, patching and painting.
- Sealant and expansion-joint replacement.
- General carpentry and building repairs.
The ability to competently complete several of these activities is essential.
Essential experience and capabilities
- At least five years’ relevant experience in remedial construction, waterproofing, building repairs or a comparable multi-trade role.
- Demonstrated practical experience completing waterproofing repairs.
- Sound knowledge of substrate preparation, primers, membranes, detailing, terminations, penetrations, joints and compatible materials.
- Ability to investigate defects and understand how water may be entering and travelling through a building.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage daily tasks and complete repairs without continual direction.
- Strong practical problem-solving skills and sound judgement.
- High standard of workmanship and attention to detail.
- Ability to read drawings, specifications and written scopes of work.
- Clear communication skills and a professional manner when dealing with clients,
consultants and building occupants.
- Good understanding of construction safety requirements.
- Physically capable of performing the hands-on requirements of the position.
- Valid Australian driver licence, White Card and Australian working rights.
Tools and transport
Applicants must have:
- A reliable vehicle suitable for travelling between Sydney project sites.
- Their own general hand tools.
- A current Australian driver licence.
- A valid construction White Card.
What we offer
- Competitive hourly rate of $50–$60, based on demonstrated experience and capability.
- Full-time employment with an immediate start available.
- Varied remedial projects across Sydney.
- A professional, supportive and collaborative working environment.
- The opportunity to take ownership of your work and develop with a growing remedial building company.
- Direct access to experienced project management and site supervision.
