Location CountryAustraliaVacancy NameAssistant AccountantVacancy NoVN444Employment TypeFull-TimeSummary of RoleThe Assistant Accountant is responsible for:Primarily responsible for assisting month-end process working closely with the Finance TeamContributing towards SDI Strategic Priorities.Conducting work in a protected manner, adhering to quality compliance requirements and demonstrating a strong commitment to SDI's values of passion, accountability, respect, teamwork, and innovation.Specific ResponsibilitesAssist with processing credit cards transactions and employee expense claims in accordance with company policies and proceduresAssist in processing stock adjustments and stock transfers for all entities, including responding to stock adjustment/transfer queriesSupport petty cash disbursement in multiples currenciesAssist in customer collections and payment allocationsSupport scheduled stocktakes, cycle counts and inventory controlsProvide back up support for Accounts Payable functionsAssist in month-end accounting processes, including preparation of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and end of month reportsSupport the review, reconciliation, and clearing of GR/IR balancesAssist with resolving accounting and transactional issuesProvide back-up support in preparing the daily Cash Position ReportAssist with audit queries and information requests from auditors/other internal and external stakeholdersAssist with providing information and supporting documentation for insurance claims and renewalsSwitchboard relief (when required).




Liaises with internal and external stakeholders as required.Maintain awareness of and compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation.Other activities as requested by Company Management.Assist other ad hoc financial responsibilities and general administrative tasks as requiredKey Relationships (Internal & External)All Department ManagersSuppliers/Customers & Service providersOverseas Sales & Finance teamsPurchasing and Warehouse teamsExternal Auditors/consultantsInsurance BrokersJob EnvironmentThe position is located at BayswaterWorking hours: 38-hour week paid monthlyEducation LevelBachelor's DegreeEssential ExperienceWorking towards CA/CPATertiary qualified in Accounting or relevant disciplineNatural process improver and thrive on effecting change within a businessExperience with computer software accounting packages, including Microsoft Office, SAP (or similar ERP system) is beneficialGood understanding of accounting conceptsKnowledge and skillsStrong organisational, communication & time management skillsWorking knowledge of general accounting proceduresAware of SDI's current Quality policy and objectivesAdvanced level in Microsoft Office suite of products in particular Excel, Word & PowerPointPersonal QualitiesStrong numeracy skills and understanding of accounting conceptsStrong organisational skills including the ability to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks for optimum productivity aStrong Analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication skillsEye for detailPrevious experience in a similar role preferredCurrencyAUDSalary Minimum$65,******Salary Maximum$75,0
