Located in northwest Queensland, Cannington boasts an underground mine and processing facility situated approximately 800 kilometres west of Townsville and a concentrate handling facility at the Port of Townsville.Flights are direct to the onsite airport, and the mine is only 3.5 km from camp—the perfect distance for a sunset walk or run home along a purpose-built walking track.

and technology productsABOUT THE ROLEWe have a 12-month, fixed-term contract available,on an 8:6 roster, Monday-Monday, FIFO from Brisbane or Townsville, or DIDO from Mount Isa, Cloncurry and McKinlay shires.As a Geologist, you will be responsible for delivering geological interpretation and data to support underground production planning and resource development.Other key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:Complete resource block reviews and drill planningValidate geological data and maintain database integritySupport production through mapping and grade trackingContribute to reporting, reconciliation and improvement initiativesABOUT YOUYou will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:Experience in mining, preferably in underground hard rock environmentsStrong analytical and interpretation skillsAbility to collaborate across multidisciplinary teamsEffective communication of technical informationHigh level of organisation and data accuracyProficiency with geological software toolsQualifications for this position are:Tertiary qualifications in Geology or associated Engineering disciplineFirst Aid & CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)Current C class driving licence (manual)South32 is committed to building and maintaining an inclusive and diverse workforce that reflects the communities in which we operate.
