You will work closely with brokers to develop a profitable portfolio while delivering a high level of service.
The role includes preparing current business and renewal quotes, processing endorsements and policy adjustments, resolving underwriting queries and building strong relationships with new and existing brokers.Key ResponsibilitiesAssess and evaluate risks in line with underwriting guidelines and delegated authorityPrepare and issue new business, renewal and endorsement quotesReview proposal forms and ensure underwriting requirements have been metRespond to broker enquiries in a timely and professional mannerProvide practical underwriting solutions and technical support to brokersBuild and maintain strong relationships with new and existing brokersUnderwrite profitable business in line with MECON's risk appetiteMaintain accurate policy documentation and complete required administrationWork closely with colleagues and managers to support consistent underwriting practicesAssist and provide guidance to junior underwriting team membersAttend broker visits and industry events where appropriateContribute to continuous improvement across the underwriting teamAbout YouTo be successful in this role, you will have:Previous underwriting experience within the insurance industryStrong risk assessment and decision-making skillsA good understanding of underwriting guidelines and delegated authoritiesStrong administration skills and attention to detailExcellent communication and relationship-building skillsThe ability to manage competing priorities and work with minimal supervisionA collaborative approach and willingness to support other team membersExperience with non-standard endorsements and policy wordingsConfidence using underwriting systems and Microsoft Office programsFull Australian working rights with no restrictionsHow We Will Support YouAt MECON, we believe in supporting and growing our people.
