Lithgow City Council has an exciting opportunity for a Resource Recovery Site Officer to join their team in Lithgow, NSW.Reporting to the Site Supervisor, Lithgow Solid Waste Facility, you will be responsible for undertaking customer service, load inspection, resource recovery and landfilling activities at Lithgow Solid Waste Facility and Resource Recovery Centre.
Work within and contribute to a multi-skilled team that promotes council's service image by providing courteous, responsive and effective customer service.
The position holder will operate site plant and equipment to provide an effective landfill and resource recovery service to the community.Lithgow Solid Waste Facility, and Resource Recovery Centre operate 7 days per week, the preferred applicant will be required to work weekends.More specifically, your duties will include (but will not be limited to):Screen customers and loads to ensure only authorised waste delivered to site and customers are charged at the appropriate rateDirect traffic to appropriate areas of the site dependent on load typeIdentify asbestos containing materials through visual inspection or testing supplied equipmentAssist with separation of recoverable materials and ensure separated materials are managed in a safe and effective mannerSite housekeeping including litter collection and keeping resource recovery areas tidyOperate site plant and equipment within competency/licensing level, and undertake minor maintenance and care of plant and equipmentUndertake relief work where required at the landfill and gatehouse,
and other Council waste sites including Portland Solid Waste FacilityProvide efficient and effective customer serviceOpen and/or close the site as necessaryAbout youThe successful candidate will meet the following criteria:Experience in the delivery of quality customer service to internal and external customersExperience in waste and resource recovery facility operations or similarClass C Drivers LicenceSound communication skillsDemonstrated understanding of Work Health & Safety and Risk Management ResponsibilitiesProficiency in the use of a variety of computer applicationsWillingness to undertake additional trainingDemonstrated commitment to honesty and integrityAbility to work unsupervised and as part of a teamSense of civic pride/environmental responsibilityIn addition, an ideal candidate would haveCompetency in the operation of heavy plant including waste compactor, track loader, wheeled loader, excavator or similarClass HR drivers licenceUnderstanding of environmental issues and the role that a waste facility holds within the community.First Aid CertificateSalary andBenefitsIf you are looking for a change of lifestyle, a new adventure, or to take the next step in yourcareer, this is the role for you.Between $ 1,****** and $ 1,****** per week, commensurate withyour skills,
