Junior Legal Counsel - Institutional Funds & Investment Management A quick-growing, market-leading fixed income and credit investment manager is creating a newly established Junior Legal Counsel role, reporting jointly to the General Counsel.
What you'll do
Own end-to-end institutional client onboarding, coordinating legal, operational and compliance workstreams
Draft, review and negotiate client-facing documents, investment management agreements, side letters, subscription docs, fee arrangements
Support new mandate and fund structure establishment across multiple jurisdictions
Liaise with custodians, administrators, prime brokers and clearing counterparties
Get exposure to derivatives and trading documentation (ISDA and related)
Coordinate KYC/AML, regulatory and internal approvals
About you
Admitted to practice in Australia (or eligible for admission)
1–4 years' PAE, ideal if you've come through a top-tier grad program,
or have a background in funds management, banking and finance, M&A; or corporate
Robust drafting and negotiation skills with real attention to detail
Commercially minded, you can turn legal issues into practical, workable solutions
Comfortable juggling multiple deadlines in a fast-paced workplace
Financial services or institutional client exposure would be a bonus
This is a rare opportunity to sit at the intersection of legal and operations, driving the onboarding of institutional clients into the firm's portfolios, from first engagement through to funding and ongoing support. You'll work directly with investment, operations, compliance and distribution teams, plus external counsel, custodians and counterparties, on genuinely broad and commercial work.
