Senior Team Leader, Financial Crimes Operations, Governance & CapabilityShape a newly created role and influence enterprise-wide financial crime strategyLead hands‐on governance, capability, quality assurance and uplift initiativesFlexible location and flexible ways of workingAbout the role:This newly created position is a unique chance to establish and enhance Financial Crime Operations' governance and capability.
You'll have the autonomy to influence frameworks, processes and ways of working while building a strong risk culture and delivering meaningful change.
This is a hands‐on leadership role that combines strategic oversight with operational execution.
You'll work closely with stakeholders across the business and Financial Crimes Operations specifically to strengthen financial crime controls, drive capability uplift and ensure the organisation remains resilient to emerging financial crime threats.
The Governance & Capability function has an existing Quality Assurance (QA) Team with a Team Leader and will house future Capability and Training and Procedure/Process Team Leaders and Members.Specifically, this will include leadership and driving initiatives across the Financial Crimes Operations division such as:Leading financial crime governance, capability and risk management activitiesDeveloping and enhancing procedures, guidance and control frameworks to comply with organisational policiesDriving Quality Assurance and continuous improvement programsLeading training and capability initiatives across Financial Crime OperationsMonitoring and reporting on KPIs, SLAs, obligations, risks and controlsDelivering actionable insights to support executive decision‐makingPartnering with Risk, Compliance, Technology and Operations teamsSupporting regulatory engagement,



audits and assurance activitiesLeading financial crime change initiative requirements and framework uplift programsBuilding and developing a high‐performing team focused on excellenceAbout you:You are a collaborative leader who builds trusted relationships, develops others and influences outcomes through credibility and clear communication.
You foster accountability, continuous improvement and a positive team culture.We also seek:Extensive experience in financial crime, risk, compliance or governance leadershipStrong knowledge of AML/CTF, fraud, scams, sanctions and regulatory obligationsProven experience designing and implementing frameworks, policies and controlsStrong analytical, problem-solving and decision‐making capabilitiesExperience engaging with regulators, auditors and executive stakeholdersDemonstrated success leading teams, change programs and operational improvementsAbility to translate complex risk issues into clear business outcomesQualifications:Qualifications in Financial Crime, Risk Management, Business, Commerce, Law or a related discipline are highly regarded, along with professional certifications such as CAMS, CFE or equivalent.Location: As our operational teams are based in Adelaide, Toowoomba and Brisbane, candidates from these locations are highly preferredWhy you'll love working with us:People First Bank – our new brand – says exactly what we're all about: people.
