Payroll ManagerLocation: LiverpoolSalary: £60,000 - £70,000A well-established and growing accountancy practice is looking to appoint an experienced Payroll Manager to lead and develop its payroll function.This is a senior opportunity for an experienced payroll qualified who is looking for more than simply managing the day-to-day operation.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for an established payroll service, leading a team of four and playing a key role in developing and growing the service line further.With around 300 payroll clients, there is a strong existing platform to build upon.What you will be doing as a Payroll ManagerLeading, managing and developing a team of four payroll professionalsOverseeing the delivery of payroll services across a diverse portfolio of approximately 300 clientsMaintaining high standards of accuracy, compliance and client serviceReviewing and overseeing payroll processes and ensuring deadlines are consistently metActing as a senior point of contact for clients, dealing with queries and providing payroll guidance where requiredSupporting and developing the existing team, including performance management, coaching and mentoringIdentifying opportunities to improve processes, systems and efficiencies across the payroll functionBuilding strong relationships with existing clients and helping to develop the service furtherIdentifying opportunities to grow the payroll client base and increase fee incomeWorking closely with colleagues across the wider practice to identify opportunities for service development and cross-referralKeeping up to date with changes in payroll legislation and ensuring the team operates in line with current requirementsWhat you will need to succeed as a Payroll ManagerSignificant experience within payroll,



ideally gained within an accountancy practice or payroll bureau environmentPrevious experience managing and developing a payroll teamStrong technical knowledge of UK payroll legislation and processesExperience managing a sizeable portfolio of payroll clientsRelevant payroll qualifications, with CIPP or equivalent qualifications highly desirableExcellent attention to detail and a strong focus on accuracyStrong communication and client relationship management skillsThe confidence to identify and implement improvements to existing processesA commercial mindset and an interest in developing and growing a payroll serviceThe ability to work autonomously while also working effectively with the wider practiceWhy join this firm?
