About the role

As a Junior Sous you are responsible for supporting the Executive Chef by delivering consistently high-quality food. You will assist with stock and costs controls, staff management, and general operations of the kitchen department, particularly in the absence of the Executive Chef. You ensure the highest standards and consistent quality in the daily preparations, keeping up to date with recent products, recipes and preparation techniques.

Key responsibilities
Lead by example, projecting a positive and professional image at all times
Provide positive and constructive feedback to staff, promoting a culture of growth and reward
Assist with managing staff under performance in line with company expectations, escalating instances of misconduct to the Executive Chef/GM/Ops Manager as required
Delegate duties and responsibilities to employees to ensure service demands are met
Communicate company policies and procedures with all staff, ensuring compliance at all times
Provide training and support to all frontline staff, incorporating service standards and product knowledge




Partake in regular department meetings to ensure effective communication with staff, resolve operational issues, review menus and upcoming events
Resolve customer issues and complaints in a prompt and skilled manner, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction and quality service
Monitor labour costs with particular attention to weekends and public holidays
Maintain excellent presentation standards and cost controls for all food and beverage outlets

About you
Food Safety Supervisor (Level 2)
Chef – SIT40413 - Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or the ability to attain
Projects a skilled and positive image at all times
Demonstrates hygienic work practices
Organises time and work efficiently
Uses leadership skills to maintain an effective work group
Establishes rapport easily
Works under pressure without negative impact
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Develops and maintains co-operative working relationships
