Commercial Trust Accountant – CBD
Own the trust accounting function in a high-performing commercial property team.
If you enjoy precision, well-run processes and being the "go-to" person for trust accounts, this role offers the chance to step into a key position within a quality commercial real estate workplace in Melbourne's CBD.
The opportunity:
As Commercial Trust Accountant, you will take end‐to‐end responsibility for the smooth, accurate and compliant operation of trust accounts across a commercial property portfolio.
Your work will directly support landlords, tenants and an experienced Asset Management team, and you'll be recognised internally as the expert for all things trust accounting.
Key responsibilities include:
Daily receipting and bank file uploads
Daily bank and trust account reconciliations
Preparing landlord previews and payment runs
Managing twice‐weekly creditor payment runs
Setting up new properties and tenancies in the trust accounting system
Opening, maintaining and closing security deposit (IBD) accounts
Uploading and reconciling property budgets
Updating lease renewals and tenancy information in the system (Goat)
Responding to trust accounting queries from the Asset Management team
Coordinating invoice processing with the offshore support team
Maintaining contractor records in Goat and EFTsure
Uploading invoices and ensuring accurate, up‐to‐date financial records
This is a hands‐on role where you'll have clear ownership of the trust function and the opportunity to refine processes as you go.
About you:
You're organised, accurate and enjoy bringing order to complex workflows.
You take pride in clean reconciliations, consistent processes and being a reliable internal partner to the broader team.
You will ideally bring:
Trust accounting experience in commercial or residential property, or strong property accounts experience
High attention to detail and numerical accuracy
Confidence using trust accounting software and online banking platforms
Strong time management skills and comfort with recurring daily and weekly deadlines
Clear, professional communication skills and confidence supporting asset managers and internal stakeholders
A proactive, solutions‐focused mindset – you like to identify and resolve issues, not just escalate them
This will suit someone who enjoys a structured, process‐driven role and wants to deepen their expertise in the commercial property sector.
Why this role?
Work in the heart of Melbourne's CBD with a respected commercial property team
Focus on commercial trust accounting rather than generalist accounts work
Stable, long‐term role with transparent responsibilities and autonomy
Close collaboration with an experienced Asset Management team and access to modern systems (including Goat and EFTsure)
Genuine opportunity to become the trusted internal expert for trust accounting
If you're looking to step up in the commercial property space and take ownership of a key trust accounting function, this role offers the ideal blend of stability, responsibility and professional growth.
Salary dependent on your experience - $90,000 to $120,000 + Super
