We're currently seeking an accomplished
Senior Automation Engineer
to play a pivotal role in designing, integrating, and commissioning state-of-the-art SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) and automation systems that power large-scale development projects.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Automation Engineer, your duties include:
Leading engineering projects with minimal supervision to achieve successful outcomes.
Designing and integrating SCADA systems, incorporating RTUs (Remote Terminal Units), PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMIs (Human Machine Interfaces), and IEDs (Intelligent Electronic Devices).
Developing automation control systems, such as voltage regulation and automated plant controls.
Designing communication interfaces for SCADA, industrial LAN/WAN networks, and communication infrastructure.




Ensuring strict compliance with SCADA protocols/standards like Modbus, DNP3, IEC***** MMS, and Conitel.
Providing expert technical support to the business development, tendering, and operational teams.
Undertaking site commissioning responsibilities, adhering to schedules and budgets.
Coaching and mentoring junior engineers and interns for career development.
Upholding stringent safety, quality, and regulatory compliance standards.
Qualifications
Required:
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Systems or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
Eligibility for membership with Engineers Australia.
At least 5 years of hands-on experience with RTU/PLC development (e.g., Invensys, Allen Bradley, GE, SEL, ABB, Siemens).
A minimum of 5 years of SCADA software development experience (e.g., Citect, SUN Rev5/6/7, Wonderware, ABB Micro SCADA).
Proficiency in Visual Basic and Microsoft Office applications.
Demonstrated depth in control system design, from concept through to detailed implementation.
Preferred:
Prior experience in "Design-for-Construction" environments.
Site commissioning experience in industrial setups.
Design expertise in transmission, distribution utilities, or power generation.
Technical know-how in industrial automation system design and energy management systems.




Registration as a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or corporate membership of Engineers Australia.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to conceptualize and implement SCADA and automation solutions.
Conduct site assessments, offering effective technical solutions and guidance.
Lead hardware and software integration efforts for control systems.
Coordinate drafting and production of design and installation drawings.
Track and ensure milestone achievements to meet project timelines and budgets.
Participate in design reviews, workshops, and discussions with clients to refine project outcomes.
Create inspection/test plans alongside operating and maintenance manuals.
Maintain adherence to safety procedures and implement quality assurance measures.
