The Opportunity
n
We are looking for a passionate litigator with 1 – 3 years PAEto join our general insurance team on a full-time basis. As alawyer specialising in defendant institutional torts claims, youwill play a crucial role in providing legal support andrepresentation to our clients.
n
You Will be responsible for managing a variety of casesinvolving institutional torts allegations, working with defendantsand their legal teams to develop effective defence strategies andensure the best possible outcomes for our clients.
n
Your main responsibilities will include:
n
n
Manage a caseload of defendant institutional torts claimsfrom inception to resolution with adequate supervision.
n
Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, and preparevarious legal documents.
n
Analyse complex legal issues, review case material, gatherevidence, and assess liability and damages.
n
Collaborate with senior lawyers to develop and executedefence strategies.
n
Attend negotiations, mediations, and courtproceedings.
n
Provide ongoing legal advice and guidance to clientsthroughout the litigation process.
n
Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files, ensuringcompliance with client service standards.
n
Stay up to date of relevant legal developments and changesin legislation pertaining to institutional torts claims.
n

Skills and Experience
n
To be successful in this role you will have:
n
n
A Bachelor of Laws or equivalent and a current New SouthWales practising certificate.
n
Minimum 1 years' post admission experience in generalinsurance matters.
n
Robust knowledge of Australian tort law, civil procedure,and relevant legislation.
n
Confidence to deal directly with clients.
n
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as partof a team.
n
Ability to communicate effectively with experts in multiplefields.
n
High degree of initiative, dedication and
organisationability
with a strong client and commercial focus.
n
Ability to manage a busy workload and work to tightdeadlines.
n
A commercial approach and ability to articulate andnegotiate effectively; and
n
