About Perioperative Services
Perioperative Services at the Women's comprise seven operating theatres and one day procedure theatre, delivering a 24/7 service and approximately 12,000 surgical cases per annum.
The portfolio includes:
Operating Theatres
Day Surgery Unit (DSU)
Sterile Processing Services (SPS)
Planned Surgery Access Nurses (PSAN)
Equipment Nurse
This is a complex, high‐volume tertiary service with robust multidisciplinary partnerships across the Parkville Precinct.
About The Role
As the Perioperative Services Manager (POSM), you will provide senior operational leadership and end‐to‐end accountability across perioperative services.
Reporting to the Director of Women's Health, the role focuses on optimising theatre utilisation, strengthening workforce planning, and enhancing financial, quality and safety governance.
You will support and enable Nurse Unit Managers to focus on clinical leadership, education and staff wellbeing, while you lead operational performance, innovation and system improvement across the service.




This role also represents Perioperative Services internally and externally to advance organisational and system priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Providing senior operational leadership to achieve clinical, access, workforce and financial KPIs
Leading theatre utilisation, scheduling and performance accountability
Delivering annual Clinical and Operational Business Plans
Strengthening workforce planning, recruitment, engagement and retention
Overseeing financial management, including high‐cost equipment and consumables
Supporting a strong governance framework for quality, safety and risk management
Leading innovation, service redesign and continuous improvement initiatives
Building strong relationships with medical, nursing, allied health and executive stakeholders

About You
You will be a senior perioperative leader with a collaborative, strategic and values‐driven leadership style.
You will bring robust operational capability, sound financial and workforce management skills, and a demonstrated ability to lead large, complex multidisciplinary teams.
You Will Also Have
Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
Significant experience in senior perioperative or operational leadership roles
A proven track record of meeting operational,



clinical and financial targetsDemonstrated success leading change, innovation and continuous improvement
Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship‐building skills
A commitment to women's health, health equity and the Women's values
ACORN membership (or eligibility)
A relevant bachelor's degree (postgraduate qualifications desirable)
