Clearance required
Current TSPV clearance OR have held a TSPV within the previous 12 months.
Successful candidates must be eligible to complete a Defence Intelligence Suitability Assessment (DISA).

The Australian Geospatial-Intelligence Organisation (AGO) is responsible for producing, managing and delivering trusted geospatial data, services and products that support Defence and the broader Australian Government.
Within AGO, the Foundation Geospatial Branch is responsible for maintaining authoritative geospatial data including mapping, imagery, elevation and feature datasets that underpin Defence planning, operations and decision-making.
Job Description
We are seeking a GIS Foundation Specialist (Level 2) to support the delivery of Foundation Geospatial data and products within a secure Defence setting.
Working under general direction, you will contribute to the production, maintenance and quality assurance of geospatial datasets and cartographic outputs that support Defence's operational and strategic requirements.
This role is ideal for GIS professionals with experience in geospatial data production, validation and enterprise GIS environments who are looking to contribute to nationally significant intelligence and Defence capabilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Perform geospatial data production, capture and maintenance activities.
Conduct quality assurance and validation of spatial datasets.
Produce cartographic products and geospatial outputs to defined standards.
Support the management and maintenance of Foundation Geospatial datasets.
Follow established Defence geospatial standards, processes and workflows.
Investigate and resolve spatial data quality issues.
Contribute to documentation, procedures and quality reporting activities.
Support the ongoing delivery and sustainment of enterprise geospatial capabilities.




Deliver accurate, reliable and timely geospatial products.
Education/Certifications required
Relevant qualification in:
GIS
Geospatial Science
Spatial Information Systems
Geomatics
Related discipline
Equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
Knowledge/Skills required
Experience in GIS data production, editing and maintenance.
Experience conducting geospatial quality assurance and validation activities.
Proficiency with GIS platforms such as ArcGIS, ArcGIS Pro and/or SOCET GXP.
Experience working with structured data schemas and geospatial specifications.
Ability to produce cartographic outputs and mapping products.
Experience with 2D and 3D feature extraction and data management.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and data integrity.
Ability to work effectively under general direction.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary teams.
Experience within Defence, Intelligence or Government environments is highly desirable.
Exposure to geomatics, photogrammetry or geospatial imaging systems is advantageous.
Understanding of geospatial governance, standards and quality frameworks.
