About the role
As a Line Pilot with RFDS South Eastern Section, you'll operate in challenging and rewarding environments to ensure patients, clinicians and essential equipment reach some of the most remote parts of Australia safely and efficiently.
You'll support 24/7 emergency aeromedical retrievals alongside primary and preventative health services.

RFDS SE delivers 24-hour emergency aeromedical retrievals and essential healthcare to people living and working in remote, rural and regional communities.
Services include GP and nurse clinics, dental care, mental health support, alcohol and other drug counselling, vaccinations, chronic disease management and telehealth.

What you'll do
Conduct emergency aeromedical retrievals and patient transfers across remote and regional NSW.
Operate safely and efficiently to deliver clinicians and critical equipment to where they're needed most.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and maintain operational readiness in energetic environments.

What you'll bring
Licences/ratings:
Australian CPL with ATPL subjects (F‐ATPL), Multi‐Engine Command Instrument Rating, and Class 1 medical.
Minimum experience:
2,500 hours total time; 2,000 hours pilot in command; 500 hours PIC multi‐engine; 100 hours night; 100 hours instrument.
Work rights:
Australian citizenship, permanent residency or an approved work visa.
Desirable:
Single‐pilot experience; remote area flying; preference for 4 instrument proficiency checks; turbine time (preferred but not required); experience working shifts over a 24‐hour period.

Compliance and checks
Pre‐employment drug and alcohol testing in line with Civil Aviation Safety Regulations.
Current Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).
Current driver's licence.
Working with Children and National Police checks.
Some contracts require evidence of immunity or vaccination against specified diseases.
Base and operations
Primary base: Broken Hill, NSW, with vacancies also available across various RFDS South Eastern Section locations in NSW.
Operations run 24/7 to support emergency retrievals and essential health services.
