About This Opportunity
The Technical Officer, Laboratory Research will provide specialised technical support to the STRIKE project, an innovative research program developing a novel dsRNA and BenPol-based solution to help prevent flystrike in sheep.
Working within the Queensland Alliance for Agriculture and Food Innovation's Centre for Animal Science, you will join a collaborative research environment and contribute to purposeful laboratory and animal-based research across formulation development, research trials, sample analysis, data management and project delivery.
Key responsibilities will include, but not limited to: Produce dsRNA and BenPol materials and support formulation optimisation using established laboratory methodologies.
Coordinate sheep research trials, including sample collection, processing, laboratory analysis and accurate research data management.
Provide specialised technical expertise and advice to researchers, supporting the delivery of project milestones and meaningful research outcomes.
Maintain compliance with animal ethics requirements, research governance, laboratory quality standards, safe work procedures and environmental policies.
This is a full-time fixed-term position through to 31 March **** at HEW Level 5.
About You
Completion of a degree qualification in Animal Science, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Agricultural Science, Biological Sciences or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education or training.
Foundational knowledge of molecular biology, animal science, biotechnology or a related biological research discipline.
Understanding of laboratory research methodologies, animal research procedures and relevant research compliance requirements.
Experience working in a research laboratory or animal research environment.
Demonstrated technical capability in biological sample preparation and handling, laboratory assays and research data collection.
Experience using laboratory equipment and research data management systems.




Strong practical research skills and experience applying established scientific methodologies and techniques.
Ability to organise technical work independently while contributing collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research team.
Well-developed organisational, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain accurate research records.
