Job Description
The Schools and Preschools, Conditions for Learning directorate works to support Education Directors and Local Education Teams integrate and sustain systems, strategies and approaches that enable school and preschool improvement based on well-established and high-quality conditions for optimal learning.
The Assistant Director leads a high performing team of educational leaders to provide timely and accurate advice and support to Education Directors and school leaders managing critical, complex and protracted incidents, performing a coaching role with school, preschool and corporate leaders and fostering robust relationships with senior policy officers to ensure policy is fit for purpose, informed by the experiences of schools and preschools and that advice provided is explicit, accurate and practical.




Through establishing highly effective working relationships with corporate and site leaders and education directors the Assistant Director identifies and ensures matters of high concern are escalated to members of the department's senior executive to ensure appropriate and timely support and action is in place and contributes to the identification of clear improvement opportunities in incident response and policy and procedure design that strategically address the problems of practice identified through critical incident and external school review processes.
