This is a hands-on Manager-level opportunity focused on second-line market risk oversight across energy and commodities trading activity.
The successful candidate will combine solid technical market risk capability with commercial judgement and the confidence to work closely with Front Office and senior stakeholders.
The role will suit someone with a background in energy, electricity or commodities markets who understands both technical risk metrics and the commercial realities of a trading environment.
Key responsibilities
Provide independent Line 2 market risk oversight across commodities and energy trading activity
Monitor and challenge trading exposures, risk limits and positions against risk appetite
Support the development and enhancement of market risk frameworks, limits and controls
Analyse VaR, stress testing, scenario analysis, sensitivities and earnings-at-risk
Assess trading and portfolio risk across energy and commodities products
Work closely with Front Office, Treasury,



Finance and Risk stakeholders
What we are looking for
Around 4–7+ years' experience in market risk, trading risk, commodities risk or a related area
Strong exposure to energy, electricity or commodities markets
Good understanding of wholesale electricity markets and trading risk
Experience with VaR, stress testing, scenario analysis, sensitivities and risk limits
Exposure to earnings-at-risk, PPA valuation or energy portfolio risk would be highly regarded
Strong commercial acumen and an understanding of how trading desks think about risk and P&L;
Experience working with Front Office and providing independent challenge
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
Experience within an energy company, utility, commodities business or financial markets environment would be highly relevant
