About the Role
We are seeking an outstanding academic to advance the University of Wollongong's leadership in the emerging field of Quantum Biotechnology.
Working across the School of Science and Molecular Horizons you will develop a high-impact research program at the interface of quantum science and the life sciences, contributing to interdisciplinary collaboration, research excellence and external funding success.
You will also deliver high-quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programs in chemistry, biochemistry and molecular biology, including subject coordination, curriculum development, and incorporation of research-led teaching practices, and play an active role in academic leadership, governance and engagement activities across the University.
Key responsibilities:
Lead impactful research in Quantum Biotechnology;
Collaborate within the University of Wollongong and through the ARC Centre of Excellence in Quantum Biotechnology (QUBIC);
Attract research funding and publish high-quality research;
Supervise research students and early-career researchers;
Deliver innovative teaching and curriculum development; and
Contribute to academic leadership and service.
About the Team
The School of Science (SSCI) teaches and conducts research in Biomedical Sciences including Biochemistry, Molecular Biophysics, Microbiology and Cell and Molecular Biology, all disciplines of Chemistry including Atmospheric, Medicinal and Environmental Chemistry, as well as Conservation Biology, Earth Surface Processes, Ecology, Ecotoxicology, Environmental Science, Earth systems, Marine Biology and Spatial Sciences.
SSCI has a global research presence facilitated by its strengths in both the Molecular Horizons Research Institute and Environmental Futures Centre.
SSCI staff have global research connections providing multi-faceted opportunities for knowledge growth and development.
What You'll Bring
A PhD in physics, chemistry, biophysics, biochemistry, molecular biology or a related discipline;
Demonstrated expertise in Quantum Biotechnology, for example in the fields of Molecular Qubits, Quantum Sensing, and Protein Engineering.
A solid record of research excellence and scholarly impact;
