What This Role Involves
n
As a Youth Mentor, you'll work alongside young people and other professionals to provide holistic, family-focused support.
n
You will help young men and adolescent boys who have been exposed to family and domestic violence to:
n
n
Recover and heal from their experiences.
n
Develop healthy and respectful relationships.
n
Build resilience, confidence and positive connections.
n
Understand the impacts of violence and make positive choices.
n
Reduce the risk of using family, domestic and sexual violence.
n
Connect with appropriate services and supports within their community.
n
n
You'll manage a caseload of approximately ***** young people, depending on individual risk, needs and complexity.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
You will:
n
n
Conduct comprehensive assessments of young people's individual needs, risks, family and community circumstances and developmental needs.
n




Deliver individual mentoring and support sessions using Centacare's holistic and family-oriented approach.
n
Develop positive relationships and build trust with young people and their families.
n
Coordinate referrals and support pathways with other organisations and services.
n
Work collaboratively with professionals, families, carers and community stakeholders where safe and appropriate.
n
Maintain accurate, high-quality participant records and contribute to program data and evaluation.
n
Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of practices, interventions and outcomes.
n
Stay informed about current research and evidence-based approaches relevant to young people, FDSV and trauma-informed practice.
n
Maintain appropriate professional boundaries, confidentiality and ethical standards.
n
Actively contribute to a positive, collaborative and values-driven team environment.

Desired Skills and Experience
n
Skills & Experience We're Looking For
n
To be successful in this role, you will have:
n
n
Certificate IV or Diploma in Youth Work, Social Work or a related field.
n
Demonstrated experience working with young people, including supporting case plan goals, responding to individual needs and risks, and building positive relationships.
n
Experience in the community services sector, with knowledge of family and domestic violence and an understanding of trauma-informed and culturally responsive practice.
n
Strong communication, interpersonal and emotional intelligence skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with young people, families, colleagues and stakeholders.
n
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively,



build community connections and maintain effective referral pathways, with a strong commitment to safeguarding, confidentiality, professional boundaries and ethical practice.
