We are seeking an Injury Management Specialist to support MidCoast Council employees through protected, timely and sustainable recovery at work. This practical, people-focused role will coordinate workplace and non-work-related injury and illness matters from notification through to closure, with a focus on early intervention, effective rehabilitation and sustainable return-to-work outcomes. You will develop and monitor tailored return-to-work plans, identify suitable duties and workplace adjustments, and work collaboratively with employees, managers, healthcare providers and insurers.
You will also provide advice, coaching and education to leaders, support compliant and cost-effective workers compensation claim management, and maintain accurate and confidential injury management records. Through analysis of claims data and injury trends, you will identify opportunities to improve systems, strengthen organisational capability and support physical and psychological wellbeing. This role will suit an experienced injury management, rehabilitation or workers compensation professional who can balance legislative requirements with practical, compassionate and outcome-focused support.
Relevant experience in injury management, workers compensation, return-to-work, workplace rehabilitation or case management.
What You'll bring
A sound understanding of workers compensation, return-to-work and workplace health and safety legislation.
Experience managing physical and psychological injury matters,



with an understanding of the psychosocial factors that may affect recovery and work participation.
Strong case management, communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.
The ability to work effectively with injured workers, managers, insurers, healthcare providers and rehabilitation professionals.
Excellent organisation and attention to detail, including the ability to manage multiple cases and maintain accurate, confidential records.
The ability to provide practical advice, coach and influence leaders, and exercise sound judgement when managing sensitive or complex matters.
Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in rehabilitation, allied health, human resources, WHS or a related discipline.
Class C driver licence.
Salary: Commencing salary circa $98,000 - $106,000 p.a. plus superannuation. (dependent on skills and experience) A vehicle arrangement will be made with the successful candidate for this role. Council will provide you with a leaseback vehicle for an annual fee calculated as 20% of the gross purchase price. This is a fully maintained vehicle for both business and full private use with no additional expenses in normal use.
Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.
Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.
