About the role
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead our payroll operations and ensure the accurate, timely, and compliant delivery of payroll services. This role is responsible for award interpretation, statutory compliance, payroll system management, and driving process improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and employee experience. This role has a direct reporting line into the General Manager, Finance and Corporate Services.
Role Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development
Lead and mentor the payroll team to deliver high-quality services.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
Deliver training and ongoing support on payroll systems and processes.
Allocate resources effectively to meet deadlines and service standards.
Payroll Operations
Supervise the end-to-end payroll cycles, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, industrial awards, and organisational policies.
Ensure accurate interpretation of Awards (e.g., SCHADS, Modern Nurses Award **** etc.).
Compliance & Governance
Monitor legislative changes and ensure compliance.
Maintain confidentiality and data integrity.
Business Partnering & Stakeholder Engagement
Collaborate with Corporate Services, PPC, ICT, Service Delivery, Operations,
and Workforce Planning teams to optimize workflows.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or relevant subject areas.
5+ years relevant experience in similar role with proven experience managing end-to-end payroll in a complex organization, ideally within Disability Services or NDIS environment.
Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, awards, and compliance requirements.
Experience with payroll systems and rostering platforms.
Membership with a professional payroll organization is desirable.
Expertise in ERP systems and financial process automation, advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, and business partnering skills.
Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
Demonstrated commitment to ethical practices, confidentiality, integrity, and organizational values.
Proactive, autonomous and capable of self-starting tasks and the ability to adapt to a changing environment.
