Role Description
The Assistant Golf Operations Manager is a full-time, on-site role based at Sanctuary Lakes Golf Club in Melbourne, VIC. This position supports the Golf Operations Manager in overseeing daily golf operations, including tee time management, course setup coordination, and supervision of pro shop and range activities. The role involves delivering excellent customer service to members and visitors, managing bookings and inquiries, assisting with competitions and events, and ensuring smooth flow of play on the course. The Assistant Golf Operations Manager helps lead and train front-line staff, maintains operational standards and policies, and supports inventory control and merchandising in the golf shop.
This role also contributes to safety, presentation, and adherence to club procedures across all golf-related facilities.
Qualifications
Experience in golf operations or club management, including day-to-day supervision of golf shop, driving range, and tee time coordination.
Robust customer service and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with members, guests, and colleagues.
Basic knowledge of golf rules, etiquette, and competition formats; prior experience working in a golf or sports-related environment is highly regarded.
Organizational and time-management abilities, including handling multiple tasks, resolving on-course issues, and maintaining smooth operational flow.
Comfort with point-of-sale systems, booking software, and general computer literacy (e.g., "MS Office") for reporting and administration.
Proven ability to work as part of a team, support staff training, and contribute to a positive, inclusive workplace culture.
Flexibility to work a roster that includes weekends, public holidays, and peak golfing periods as required.
Relevant qualifications or training in sport management, hospitality, or business are beneficial; first aid certification is an advantage.
