Reo Group Executive Search has been exclusively retained to appoint a Vice President, Information Technology for a leading Australian higher education organization. This is a significant executive leadership opportunity at an important stage of the organization's growth and digital evolution.
The role can be based in either Sydney or Melbourne.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the VP will play a key role in shaping the organization's future technology agenda, ensuring technology investment and capability support its broader strategic ambitions. The position offers significant enterprise-wide influence and the opportunity to work closely with executive and academic leadership.
With strong foundations and an established technology roadmap already in place, the successful executive will build on existing momentum and lead the next phase of transformation, positioning technology as a critical enabler of growth, productivity, innovation and student success.
Role Overview
Leading the organization's end-to-end technology agenda, this position will oversee strategy, delivery, governance and operations, with a strong focus on strategic, academic and student priorities.
The focus will be on advancing the next phase of digital maturity, with particular emphasis on strengthening enterprise architecture, solving complex systems integration challenges and accelerating the practical application of data, AI and automation. This extends beyond incremental efficiency, using technology to simplify processes, reduce manual activity and improve the quality and consistency of experiences for students and staff.
With a broad enterprise remit spanning applications and enterprise systems, cloud and infrastructure, end-user computing and service delivery, technology governance and compliance, cybersecurity partnership and the Enterprise PMO,
the VP will work closely with executive, academic and operational leaders to ensure technology investment and delivery support the organization's priorities across growth and student success.
Responsibilities
Lead the execution of the organization's technology strategy and roadmap, translating technology investment into measurable business and student outcomes.
Strengthen enterprise architecture and systems integration across the higher education technology ecosystem, including student information, learning management, ERP, CRM and digital learning platforms.
Accelerate the use of data, AI and automation to redesign end-to-end processes, reduce manual activity and improve the speed, quality and consistency of service delivery.
Lead the continued modernization of cloud, SaaS and API-led environments, ensuring technology platforms are secure, scalable, resilient and fit for future growth.
Drive technology initiatives that enhance the student experience through greater digital self-service, connected information and more seamless interactions across the student journey.
Strengthen technology governance and the Enterprise PMO, ensuring effective prioritisation, risk and compliance oversight, benefits realization and disciplined delivery across multiple programs.
Build a high-performing technology function and partner closely with executive, academic and operational leaders to align priorities,
strengthen capability and consistently deliver against key milestones.
Candidate Profile
We are seeking an accomplished senior technology executive with deep technical credibility, strong higher education domain knowledge and a track record of translating technology strategy into tangible outcomes. You will have led technology within a university or comparable complex education setting, with strong expertise in enterprise architecture and systems integration.
You will bring genuine depth in data, AI and automation, including experience redesigning end-to-end processes and improving fragmented or underperforming technology environments. A systems thinker, you will combine strategic perspective with the ability to remain close to technical and operational detail.
Equally important will be your leadership maturity and delivery discipline. You will bring credibility at Board and executive level, strong stakeholder and governance capability, and a proven ability to lead multiple significant workstreams while building high-performing teams.
