About the role:
Multiple flexible full‐time, part‐time & casual opportunities available
As an
Ecosystem Restoration Specialist
team member, you'll collaborate with a skilled field team to restore and maintain vital high‐biodiversity areas.
You'll often be required to work in remote, rugged locations, where your work will make a real difference in regenerating natural ecosystems. You will experience firsthand the transformation of degraded land into healthy, vibrant ecosystems.
The role is a
part/full‐time casual position
, for up to five days a week, with daily working hours generally between 6:30am and 2:30pm. It will be based across multiple locations throughout the
greater Brisbane area
.
Key Responsibilities:
Bush regeneration and ecological restoration activities
Weed management including mechanical and herbicide treatment
Operating power and maintenance tools (e.g., chainsaws, brush cutters, hedgers, augers etc.)
Planting including site preparation, cultivation (augering) and watering
Erosion control including site preparation, installation of Geofabrics
General site cyclical maintenance including weed control and watering
Maintain a clean and safe workspace (e.g company vehicles,
machinery, warehouse) and abide by Brisbane Bushcare's safety policies and procedures
Occasional soft landscaping duties e.g. bushland or Natural Areas' Facilities garden beds construction and maintenance
Supporting Community Volunteers' plantings and activities
Other tasks as directed
Qualifications and experience:
Bush Regeneration experience with Certificates in Horticulture or Conservation and Land Management (preferable)
Extensive knowledge of South-East QLD plants and strong Plant ID
Sound knowledge in identification of weeds and weed control methods
Past experience working productively within a small team - able to follow direction without supervision and demonstrate initiative to complete job tasks within given time frames and project goals
Hold a current
Manual Driver's License
(preferable)
Experience working with basic hand tools and small engine machinery such as a brush cutter & chainsaw (preferable)
Hold a current Herbicide Application License (ACDC) and Chainsaw Certificate (preferable)
Hold a current Construction Safety Card (White Card)
Hold a current First Aid Certificate
