About The Opportunity
Bowral Hospital is offering an exciting Staff Specialist opportunity for an experienced Obstetrician & Gynaecologist to play a key role in delivering high-quality care to the Southern Highlands community. In this role, you will provide contemporary, evidence-based Obstetric and Gynaecological services across inpatient, ambulatory and on-call settings.
You will contribute to the delivery of safe, patient-centred care through effective clinical assessment, management and documentation, while supporting multidisciplinary collaboration and continuity of care. You will actively participate in clinical governance activities including quality improvement, peer review, patient safety initiatives, accreditation processes and compliance with National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards.
The successful applicant will also contribute to the education, supervision and mentorship of junior medical officers and medical students, supporting training programs aligned with NSW Health, SWSLHD and HETI requirements. What You'll Be Doing
Provide clinical management and treatment of patients in a SWSLHD facility under your care. This care will be provided within the clinical privileges granted by the CE on the advice of the SWSLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee.
Bowral provides pregnancy and birthing care for approximately 550 women a year as a Level 3 Maternity service. We have strong links with Campbelltown and Liverpool Hospitals for onward referral where complexity exists. We also run an outpatient gynaecology service, providing minor procedures, colposcopy, family planning and termination services, with access to operating theatres providing laparoscopic procedures up RANZCOG level 4.
Current medical practitioner registered, or eligible for registration, with the Medical Board of Australia and a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG), and/or other specialist recognition as provided under the Staff Specialists (State) Award. Applicants must be eligible for Medical Indemnity Coverage (Levels 2-5).
Applications are also welcomed from candidates eligible for the Expedited Specialist Pathway who obtained their specialist Obstetrics and Gynaecology qualification in the United Kingdom or Ireland and are able to meet the supervised practice requirements of that pathway.
Demonstrated current clinical practice of a high standard and ability to adapt clinical practice in accordance with contemporary evidence based best practice
Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management
Demonstrated participation in teaching and training at undergraduate and/or post graduate level, including supervision of junior medical staff
Demonstrated commitment to continuing self-education and development, including evidence of participation in continuing medical education/ continuing professional development
Demonstrated ability to comply with the service objectives of a public health organisation, including the provision of services to the local community, effective utilisation of resources, and preparedness to participate in the provision of health services at an LHD level
Preparedness to participate in a hospital, service or LHD on-call roster
Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with other staff and practitioners and in a multidisciplinary healthcare team
