The Neurological Support Service (Parkinson's) is a specialised nursing service providing advice and support for people living with Parkinson's Disease.
The nursing team is based at the Repatriation Centre, 90 Davey St. They provide a patient focused service including assessment and monitoring, support for community, RACH, and RHH inpatients. The Parkinson's Nurse works closely with physicians, other specialist nursing services, and allied health to coordinate services and ensure a holistic approach.
The Role
Assessment and ongoing monitoring of clients
Ongoing education of people living with Parkinson's, their family, friends, clinical staff and community
Monitoring and titration of medications under specialist direction
Referral to appropriate health professionals and services
Nursing management of symptoms and medication side effects
Support for family
You will need
Demonstrated advanced level of clinical expertise and leadership skills in the relevant practice area of Neurological Degenerative Disease, including Parkinson's disease and associated conditions.
Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills including mediation and conflict resolution with a proven ability to build effective workplace relationships and foster a cohesive team approach across a practice setting.
Comprehensive knowledge of legal requirements, including ANMC competencies, codes of practice and relevant policies that impact upon the delivery of services in the practice setting.

Details of appointment
Fixed term, part time, day worker position, working 64 hours per fortnight, to commence as soon as possible for a period of up to twelve (12) months.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
$118,297 to $125,543 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement ****.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria
Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
Holds a relevant nursing tertiary qualification or is working towards a relevant post graduate tertiary qualification.
