We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our Financial Services team. This is an exciting prospect to work in a diverse finance role supporting one of Brisbane's most iconic public spaces while developing your skills across a broad range of accounting and payroll functions.

Reporting to the Senior Financial Accountant, you will provide essential transactional and accounting support across the Finance function. The role offers broad exposure to financial operations and is ideal for someone looking to develop their skills and build a long-term career in accounting and finance.
What You'll Be Doing
As Assistant Accountant, you will:
Process and accurately code invoices, payments, receipts and other financial transactions.
Support accounts payable and receivable, including purchase orders, weekly payment runs and supplier enquiries.
Complete bank, credit card, supplier and assigned balance sheet reconciliations.
Reconcile event and venue-hire deposits against Bookable records.
Prepare payroll journals and reconcile Employment Hero to the general ledger, including employee entitlement provisions.
Assist with month-end and year-end activities, including journals, accruals, prepayments and supporting workpapers.




Maintain the fixed asset register and assist with lease accounting schedules.
Support financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, audit and compliance requirements.
Investigate discrepancies and escalation material or unresolved matters to the Senior Financial Accountant.
Maintain accurate financial records and contribute to improvements in financial processes and controls.
What We're Looking For
Experience across, and a demonstrated understanding of, end-to-end finance functions.
Working towards a tertiary qualification in accounting, commerce or finance and/or CA or CPA membership.
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel, Power BI and Power Query.
Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or a similar ERP system is desirable.
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
Clear, concise and professional written and verbal communication skills.
A proactive and collaborative approach, with the initiative to work independently when required.
Proven ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
An interest in supporting the financial capability and literacy of stakeholders across the City Parklands
