Job Description
Project Controls Lead | Brisbane
n
A rare opportunity for a driven Project Controls professional to join a unique team setting.
n
Take on the Project Controls function for a "huge small business" working with a founder's team.
n
What it's not:
n
you won't be a cog, part of the machinations of a faceless corporation, where despite the rhetoric, ultimately, you're still just a number.
n
Would you rather work with a founder's team than a faceless head office, or even worse, a finance team headed up on the other side of the world?
n
What it will look like
n
You'll be able to leave your poker face and the art of playing office politics behind.
n
No layers. No committees deciding what a committee should decide.
n
Just a founder-led outfit that's been quietly getting on with the business of doing great work, year on year for decades.
n
No fuss, no frills. Just a excellent team, delivering great outcomes for their client base.
n
This lean team has been winning on a combination of talent and grit. Each player carries a full load and gives it 100%. Until now, each Project Manager has had full accountability for Project Controls.
n
It's time to hand part of the function over to an expert.
n
Could it be you?
n
The role
n
This is a newly created position:
the first time anyone has sat across the business in this capacity. You'll have overarching accountability for project controls across multiple live projects and clients
n
Based out of the Brisbane office.
n
You will:
n
n
Own scheduling across projects using Primavera P6 or MS Project
n
Run cost control: budgeting, forecasting, variance, the lot
n
Give the business one clear, accurate line of sight on schedule and cost performance across every project and client
n
Work directly with project managers and clients, not through three layers of approval
n
Set the systems and standards that this function will run on going forward
n
n
About you
n
n
8+ years in project controls, ideally within civil, construction or infrastructure delivery
n
Comfortable running scheduling and cost control yourself, not just overseeing someone else doing it
n
Expert level with Primavera P6
n
You like building something rather than maintaining something someone else built
n
You'd rather have real accountability at a smaller outfit than a title at a big one
n
You don't need a framework for every decision, and you enjoy a setting where you are trusted to deliver your best work
n
Must have the legal right to live and work in Australia
n
